Christmas Pears

Christmas Pears 6x6 oil on board

Pears have an interesting history: in Egypt they
are sacred to Isis;
in China they represent justice and purity;
in Korea they stand for grace and nobility;
and in many parts of the world they symbolize the human heart.

But why are they called Christmas pears?
Probably because of the carol that starts out:
On the first day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
A partridge in a pear tree.

I called the painting Christmas Pears simply
because I used alot of red and green:)))

  1. Hi Rochelle, thanks so much for your comment!

  2. I love the color glow of your pears, Bruce, and the way you captured their colors reflecting into the white of the cup.
    Love your blog!

  3. Thanks you so much Julie, I'm happy to see you blog back in my inbox. Glad you're back online!
