Red Barn 5x7 oil on museum board
One of the things that impressed me the most in the
workshop with Ovanes Berberian was watching
him do a demo from a black and white rough sketch.
He did the painting largely from imagination, and
suggested that we do the same, either from a
previously painted painting or a loose sketch,
revisiting the same scene or subject multiple times.
I really enjoyed painting this and found it was much
easier to ignore local color and just create my own
color scheme.
I love this. It has "your" colors and really glows with beautiful warm light. It also has a really nice painterly quality.
ReplyDeleteI agree his demos are mazing but he was comfortable drawing the same pond and skies over and over in Idaho so he gave you the same advice he follows himself. Nice to know.
I'm becoming convinced that the repetition makes good become excellent!
DeleteI am just getting caught up but it looks like you are painting with a deeper color saturation. It probably will not surprise you to know that I like that.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! Yes, I am, no white at all till close to the end. It makes a difference I think.
