Pot Check

Pot Check 6 x 6 oil on board
I really enjoy doing these small still life paintings with
patterns.  I found a checked tea towel in my
drawer, loved the colors and thought- why not?
The checks are just as fun as the stripes but a
little bit more complicated to paint.
The trick is to try to separate the darks and
lights without worrying too much about
'what' it is.

  1. This is great! The subtle reflections from the towel into the pot are really neat.
Would love to see what you could do with my red teapot.

  2. Thanks Julie, you've made me a 'red' fan! After I finish kicking my heels up in Austin, TX. for the rest of the month, I'm going back to the place where I bought this tea pot and getting more in different colors. If they have red- I'm getting it!
