Fresh Lemon Slice

Fresh Lemon Slice  6x6 oil on board

The patterns of light and dark continue to hold
my interest no matter what my subject is.
What I'm really focusing on is
how to express these
values and colors with loose brushwork
and a variety of edges.

This subject literally falls in my lap from
my lemon trees in the garden!

  1. Love this painting - I am always astounded at the 'color' of the shadow side of yellow! And I'm a little (LOT) jealous of having a lemon tree....

  2. Hi Kelly, thanks for taking the time to comment! The garden is really the main reason I picked this house to live in while in Malta. There is also an orange tree but they are bitter and need to be made into jam. I don't jam, unless it's to music;)

  3. Love the high key palette with the handle adding a punch at the side. Striking!

    1. Thanks Julie, it's a bit darker than I usually go but it does add drama! I appreciate you commenting!
