Secret Garden

Secret Garden  9 x 7  watercolor

You'd never guess from the street that my house has a beautiful, secret garden.  It's my own private paradise with lemon, orange, and olive trees. There are palms, bougainvillea, cactus and a fish pond! Surprise!

I wanted to take things outside today in this beautiful Maltese sunshine.  It was
quite pleasant in a sheltered area away from the wind off the sea.
This watercolor adventure is turning into lots of fun!

  1. You have a natural style and ability in watercolor and as I said in the previous post, the oil you wiped off had a lot off this same delightful energy. When you have time, Bruce, you may want to try pushing your oils into a little experimental area to see what emerges. I just saw a peek of it with the rose painting and found it exciting.

  2. P.S. Hope you don't mind my suggestion. I do love the way your work is already.

  3. Hi Julie, thank you for giving my work so much thought and I love your suggestions. It's always good to have feedback from an experienced source. Thank you! I answered under Green Glass Rose that I don't disagree with you at all. I really appreciate what you said about the water colors because I haven't really paid any attention to them since I was about eleven, and only did so now because of the blackout. I don't know anything about what's right/wrong or good/bad with the watercolors so I feel free to completely play without any judgement, which is probably how we should always approach painting. I'm playing around now with the soupy paint you suggested as well. Please keep your suggestions coming! Thanks!
